Simulation of Pressure Feeling on an Artificial Skin

Simulation of Pressure Feeling on an Artificial Skin

This is a small project which was implemented by me and 3 classmates (Embedded-Systems Master students). Here you may find a short description of the project

This artificial skin simulation can:

  • Handle the inputs coming from a device which simulates an artificial skin
  • Decide how to demonstrate the output.
  • Demonstartes the output with some LEDs and a Buzzer to points the location of the pressed area on the artificial skin and the strength of the pressure

A real-time system is any information processing system which has to response to externally generated input within a finite and specified period. Real Time Application (REA) is design and developed by using Real time operating System (RTOS). One of the good examples of real time application is “artificial skin stimulation” which uses multi-programming to deal with the signal generated from the artificial skin, so as to simulate the pressure feeling of the artificial skin. Embedded Artists’ LPC2148 Education Board based on Philips ARM7TDMI LPC2148 microcontroller is used in this project as a real time embedded system to handle the signals and give back corresponding responses.
